Rebuilding Together Celebrates Completion

"All of these families came together to help because that's what we're all about," Jerome Stephens said.

Rebuilding Together's Warner Robins chapter came together on Saturday to celebrate an accomplishment of good will.

"My arms are just not wide enough to put my arms around everybody, but I just want to thank everybody because I couldn't have done this myself," Lula May Thorpes said. "I thank you and I just love everybody. I pray for everyone who reached out and touched my house."

With a $16,000 grant from Wells Fargo, Rebuilding Together was able to repair a roof, replace carpet and doors, repaint and provide other repairs in three area homes, including Ms. Thorpes.

President of Rebuilding Together Warner Robins, Jerome Stephens says groups like this are extremely important to communites, especially during trying financial times.

Rebuilding Together is a national nonprofit with a network of nearly 225 affiliates across the United States.  Our mission is to preserve affordable housing by bringing volunteers and communities together to rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners.

Rebuilding Together - Warner Robins is one of 225 affiliates of the national organization.

There are 24-million low-income homeowners in America. That number is predicted to grow to an astonishing 28.5 million by 2010. More and more families are placed in the position of choosing between vital necessities over essential home repairs and modifications. Rebuilding Together believes the disabled and elderly should be allowed to remain in their own homes whenever possible.   We believe that homeowners displaced by natural disaster will get back into safe housing with help from the community. We believe that our nation’s veterans who return with disabilities deserve a helping hand so they may return to their own homes in basic comfort.
